You and your daughter can visit Abbot’s Hill during Whole School Open Day, typically taking place in March and September. The event includes a tour of facilities, meetings with staff and a speech by the Head.
Abbot’s Hill also holds Senior Working Open Events in November and May, allowing you to experience the school on a typical school day, take a tour and view lessons in progress. During the event, you will meet the Head and teaching staff members. Learn more about how to book a spot here.
Abbot’s Hill School | The Assessment: ISEB Common Pre-test
To join in Year 7, your child will be asked to complete an essay and an online assessment called the ISEB Common Pretest, which assesses skills in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Here’s a brief introduction to the subjects covered in this online exam:
The English part of the ISEB Pretest assesses comprehension, sentence completion, spelling and punctuation.
The maths part of the ISEB Pretest assesses mathematical ability across the curriculum, including arithmetic and problem solving.
The Verbal Reasoning part of the ISEB Pretest assesses thinking and problem solving with words.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning part assesses thinking with shapes, space, diagrams and pictures.
The exam lasts approximately 2.5 hours. The timings for each section are listed below:
– English – 25 minutes
– Maths – 50 minutes
– Verbal Reasoning – 36 minutes
– Non-Verbal Reasoning – 32 minutes
