Introduction
Concord College is an independent co-ed, international day and boarding school in Shropshire. It recently came tenth on The Times league table for independent co-educational schools in the UK. [1]
The curriculum is divided across nine departments: mathematics, science, humanities, English, MFL, art, music and PSHE. Characterised by considerable flexibility, the academic provision at Concord College is aimed at helping students identify their strengths. Additionally, the school ensures that the experienced and enthusiastic staff are always available to respond to their career-related enquiries.
The abundant extra-curricular programme encompasses an array of clubs and societies and numerous social activities, trips and expeditions, as well as the popular Duke of Edinburgh Award. Clubs range from choir, orchestra and archery to badminton, chess and horse riding, allowing pupils to maximise their existing abilities while seeking to trigger their passion for new pursuits. [2]

Concord College 13 Plus (13+) Admissions Information
In the initial stage of the admissions process, you are advised to register your child with the school. For a boarding place, the registration fee is £300.
Year 9 places are allocated subject to entrance testing, interview performance and the quality of current-school reports from the past two years. You are also advised to submit copies of certificates and references, where relevant.
Exceptionally able applicants will be invited to the school for further (scholarship) assessments. If they perform well, they will be offered an Academic Scholarship, valued at 5-20% of fees.

To join in Year 9, your child will be asked to complete an online assessment called UKiset. This online assessment forms an integral part of the selection process for international students who wish to gain entry to leading UK independent schools.
Please note that the school may also measure your child’s skills through paper-based examinations in English, Mathematics and Reasoning.
Concord College 13 Plus (13+) Exam Format
The UKiset test is made up of three components:
- Reasoning
- Linguaskill
- English Essay
The Reasoning section evaluates your child’s learning potential across Quantitative, Non-Verbal and Verbal Reasoning.
Linguaskill is a multiple-choice test that measures your child’s English level in reading and listening. It helps schools to assess how easily they will be able to access the UK curriculum.
The English Essay is a piece of expressive writing on a topic assigned on the day of the test. It aims to demonstrate your child’s ability to express their opinion and communicate in written English.
