Introduction

Dauntsey’s School is an independent boarding and day school nestled in the village of West Lavington in Wiltshire. Having been founded back in 1542, the school has a rich history and boasts an impressive alumni list, as well as a magnificent campus of around 150 acres. [1]

In line with its strong academic reputation, Dauntsey’s offers a comprehensive curriculum. Covering everything from mathematics and humanities to languages and technology, the syllabuses provide the much-needed flexibility to cater for varied interests and inspire independent learning in pupils.

The wide array of co-curricular clubs and societies enables students to explore their non-academic talents and engage in intellectually enriching and imaginative pursuits. Archery, badminton, chamber choir, chess, Dauntsey’s Shakespeare Competition, Dungeons and Dragons Club and many others ensure that campus life is rooted in enthusiasm, which helps maximise the cohort’s learning experiences. [2]

Each academic year, Dauntsey’s welcomes a number of new pupils from over 100 different schools, making its community diverse and inclusive. It’s easy for learners to connect with peers with similar interests, and the presence of many students with siblings at the school enhances its warm and family-like atmosphere.

Each boarding house operates under the guidance of a Housemaster or Housemistress and a team of tutors. These professionals actively engage in students’ academic, personal and social growth, urging them to fully participate in a range of available pursuits to actively prepare for the challenges and opportunities of further education. [3]
