CEM Select is an online assessment created by the Centre for Evaluation & Monitoring (CEM). It consists of modules that assess Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical Ability. It contains a number of unique question types and formats that students are unlikely to be familiar with. CEM Select is used by a number of independent schools as part of their admissions process. It is also used by some grammar schools for Standard Entry and Late Transfer admissions.

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) created by GL Assessment is known as CAT4. It is used by UK schools to assess pupils’ developed abilities and likely academic potential. Performance in the CAT4 is also used to judge progress over the academic year and make decisions regarding setting children according to ability. Many schools now also use CAT4 as part of their admissions process.

The ISEB Common Pretest is an online assessment that forms part of the selection process at a number of independent schools in the UK. The tests are taken by students in Year 6 or 7. It consists of four timed modules: Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

UKiset is an online assessment that forms part of the selection process for international students who wish to gain entry to leading UK independent schools.

No, each test is broken up into smaller modules that can be completed separately.

Once you have made a purchase, your tests will be automatically loaded into your personal dashboard. You simply need to login to your account to access and take the tests.

Each test can be taken once under timed conditions. It will be marked automatically and is then available for review with feedback and explanations. You will then be able to review each question as many times as you like.

We do not recommend that students take the same test twice because they then rely on memory rather than understanding to answer questions. This can give a false impression of the student’s actual ability level.

Practice tests in a range are pitched at the same difficulty level but each one consists of different questions, ensuring students are exposed to as many of the various question types as possible.

Once a module has been completed, it will be marked automatically and the score will be shown in your dashboard.

Once a full test is completed, you will also receive a full score report. 

Statistical averages such as the mean and range are provided on a per module basis as well as for the whole test, providing granular context on your child’s performance.

Yes. The test will be available for review with answers and explanations provided for all questions.

Once you’ve purchased an online course, it will be available immediately in your online dashboard. Your child will be able to watch the videos using our custom video player, adding bookmarks and notes as they go along.
