The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) created by GL Assessment is known as CAT4. It is used by UK schools to assess pupils’ developed abilities and likely academic potential. Performance in the CAT4 is also used to judge progress over the academic year and make decisions regarding setting children according to ability. Many schools now also use CAT4 as part of their admissions process.

The CAT4 is divided into levels ranging from Year 2 (Level X) to Years 11 & 12 (Level G). You can view our full range of practice material for each level here.
