Introduction

Fulham School is an independent school for boys and girls aged 3-18. It was founded in 1996 and originally consisted of just one class. The Senior School (Years 9-11) opened in 2017, and in 2018, it joined forces with Fulham Pre-Preparatory and Fulham Preparatory to officially form Fulham School. Nowadays, Fulham School has more than 700 pupils and a Sixth Form and Nursery but has retained its warm and friendly atmosphere.

Inspired Education consists of more than 110 schools across 5 continents, all committed to producing well-rounded young people who want to go out in the world and make a difference. As an Inspired member school, Fulham School provides its pupils with an excellent holistic education, achieving superb outcomes within a nurturing and dynamic environment.

The curriculum in Year 9 is broad and balanced, enabling students to find out where their strengths and interests lie before choosing their GCSE subjects. Timed tests are taken in most subjects every week, which helps prepare pupils for formal exams.

Extracurricular activities on offer at Fulham Senior School include chess, podcast creation, coding and debating. Students are encouraged to get involved, as participation will provide them with an abundance of opportunities to improve their communication, teamwork, leadership and creative skills.

Every child is seen as an individual and fully supported at Fulham School, which helps them to overcome any challenges they may face. In addition to this, all members of the school community are expected to be kind to each other and tolerant, contributing to the wellbeing of everyone at the establishment.

Fulham School: Admissions Process for 13 Plus (13+)/Year 9 Entry

A good place to start the admissions process is by visiting Fulham School. You can attend an Open Day or book a Personalised Tour, which will enable you to find out more about the school.

If you decide the school is a good fit for your child, you should fill out the online application form and pay the £125 registration fee. This should be done before the end of October of the year preceding entry.

Your child will then be invited to take an online assessment (the CAT4) and have an interview with the Head of School or a member of the Senior Leadership Team before January of Year 8. In addition to this, a reference from your child’s current school will be reviewed as part of the admissions process.

Any firm offers will be made in January of Year 8. Should your child be offered a place, you will need to fill out the acceptance form and pay the £2,500 deposit. This deposit will be refunded when your child finishes their education at Fulham School.

Please note that priority will be given to candidates who meet the admissions criteria and already have a sibling attending Fulham School.

Fulham School: Scholarships and Bursaries

Fulham School does not offer bursaries; however, it does offer scholarships that can be worth up to 100% of the school’s fees, including Girls’ Scholarships and Nsouli Scholarships.

If you have any questions about scholarships, you should contact the admissions team (contact details are given below).

The CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) is an online test that is produced by GL Assessment. Your child will be in Year 8 when they take the test for Year 9 entry, meaning they will sit Level E of the test.

How your child performs in the CAT4 will help Fulham School decide whether to offer them a place. If your child is offered a place and you accept it, your child’s results in the CAT4 will also enable Fulham School to track their progress over the academic year.

Fulham School: CAT4 Format

The CAT4 consists of multiple-choice questions that cover Verbal reasoning, Non-Verbal reasoning, Quantitative reasoning and Spatial reasoning.

  • The Verbal reasoning questions assess your child’s ability to solve problems using words.
  • The Non-Verbal reasoning questions assess your child’s ability to solve problems by analysing visual information.
  • The Quantitative reasoning questions assess your child’s ability to solve problems using numbers.
  • The Spatial reasoning questions assess your child’s ability to understand how objects can move in a three-dimensional world.

Preparing for the Fulham School CAT4 (Level E) Year 9 Entrance Test

At Pretest Plus, we believe that preparing for a competitive entrance assessment will put your child in a good position to do well and perform to the best of their ability. We suggest that preparation starts well in advance of the CAT4 entrance test so that your child can take a calm and methodical approach.

Working their way through our thoroughly researched and highly accurate CAT4 Practice Tests will help your child be prepared for the CAT4 in the following ways:

  • Knowing what to expect in terms of the format and the types of questions that will be asked will remove any fear of the unknown, leading to a confident, polished performance in the actual CAT4.
  • The Practice Tests have the same timings as the real CAT4, meaning your child will get used to answering questions within a set timeframe. Understanding the speed they need to work at will be crucial on the day of the exam.
  • The Practice Tests come with answers and explanations, enabling your child to look at any incorrect answers they have given and work out where they went wrong. This will help them avoid making similar errors on the day.
  • Completing the Practice Tests is a great way to identify any areas that your child feels unsure about. These areas can then be focused on so that your child is completely ready for the CAT4 entrance test by the time it arrives.
