GEMS Wellington School Entry CAT4 Assessment | Year 4 Upwards
From Year 4 upwards, GEMS Wellington School Qatar uses the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) for entry into Year 4 and above. The test is designed to assess a pupil’s ability in reasoning, including: verbal (thinking with words), quantitative (thinking with numbers) and non-verbal (thinking with shapes and space).
CATs are used by the school to give an overview of a child’s potential and how they learn best. Assessment tests are conducted by school staff to provide the school with an overview of each child’s basic skills and knowledge. This information is vital to ensure that the curriculum can meet each individual child’s needs.
GEMS Wellington School Admissions Criteria
GEMS Wellington School Qatar makes year group placements for each student based on their age and academic, social and emotional development. Once parents have completed the application form and provided the necessary documents, the school registrar will arrange an assessment and interview for the prospective student. There is a one-off, non-refundable assessment fee of 500 QR. On completion of a successful assessment, the child will receive an offer letter.
All new students must provide official documentation of previous school experience, a report card and previous test scores.
