Introduction
Dating back to 1239, High School of Dundee is a high-achieving co-educational day school. It is Dundee’s only private school, occupying seven buildings in the city’s centre. If you and your son/daughter are interested in visiting the school to learn more about everything on offer, High School of Dundee hosts several open events to accommodate you. Open Doors are typically held on regular working days, providing an opportunity to experience the school in action. Open Mornings are usually held on Saturdays.
Applications for places include a payment of a £50 fee and relevant forms can be accessed through this page. School reports, alongside a copy of the applicant’s birth certificate or passport, should also be submitted.
Entry into the Senior School requires that all prospective students sit online assessments. On exam day, which takes place in January of the year preceding entry, students will also have the opportunity to participate in a taster day and spend time with their future year group peers.

As part of the assessment process for F2-F6 (S2-S6) entry, your child will be asked to complete the CAT4 assessment.
Based on performance in this test, schools can judge pupils’ progress over the academic year and hence decide on their setting and streaming (according to ability).
