Hurstpierpoint College, also known as Hurst, was founded in 1849 with only two pupils. Today, the College accommodates over 1,000 students in its Gothic building, with pupils split into 11 houses over its wider campus.
Known for its rigorous academic schedule, the College also offers a full extracurricular regime, designed to allow students to develop new skills, including fitness training, drama, dance and debating.
How to Apply for 13 Plus Entry to Hurstpierpoint College
Before submitting an application for 13 Plus entry to Hurst, students and parents are invited to visit the school for a tour. This can be arranged as part of an open day, or as a personal visit. Hurstpierpoint College 13 Plus Pretest Assessment
Registered 13+ candidates will be asked to take the ISEB Common Pretest Exam in Year 6. The Pretest measures a student’s academic ability and covers Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths. The one-off test is fully age-standardised, to ensure no one candidate has an advantage over any other based on their age.
Prospective Hurstpierpoint College pupils will usually sit the Pretest at their Prep School.
Hurstpierpoint College Admissions Criteria
In order to apply for a school place in Year 9, students first need to take the ISEB Common Pretest. Once the pretest results are in, the College will contact the pupil’s current school to discuss the results and to look at their academic progress to date. A conditional offer will then be made on the basis that the student passes Common Entrance exams with at least 55% in mathematics, English and science and 50% plus in all other subjects.
Once a place is offered at Hurst Senior School, parents or guardians are requested to pay a deposit of £1,000.
