Hurstpierpoint College (Hurst) 13 Plus Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Hurstpierpoint College, also known as Hurst, was founded in 1849 with only two pupils. Today, the College accommodates over 1,000 students in its Gothic building, with pupils split into 11 houses over its wider campus.

Known for its rigorous academic schedule, the College also offers a full extracurricular regime, designed to allow students to develop new skills, including fitness training, drama, dance and debating.

How to Apply for 13 Plus Entry to Hurstpierpoint College

Before submitting an application for 13 Plus entry to Hurst, students and parents are invited to visit the school for a tour. This can be arranged as part of an open day, or as a personal visit. The tours give parents and prospective pupils the opportunity to learn more about the College, see its facilities and understand more about its teaching methods.

In order to proceed with an application, parents need to complete a registration form and return it to the College’s Admissions Office. Registration costs £100, which is non-refundable, and will reserve a place for your child, but does not guarantee one.

Hurstpierpoint College 13 Plus Pretest Assessment

Registered 13+ candidates will be asked to take the ISEB Common Pretest Exam in Year 6. The Pretest measures a student’s academic ability and covers Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths. The one-off test is fully age-standardised, to ensure no one candidate has an advantage over any other based on their age.

Prospective Hurstpierpoint College pupils will usually sit the Pretest at their Prep School.

Hurstpierpoint College Admissions Criteria

In order to apply for a school place in Year 9, students first need to take the ISEB Common Pretest. Once the pretest results are in, the College will contact the pupil’s current school to discuss the results and to look at their academic progress to date. A conditional offer will then be made on the basis that the student passes Common Entrance exams with at least 55% in mathematics, English and science and 50% plus in all other subjects.

Once a place is offered at Hurst Senior School, parents or guardians are requested to pay a deposit of £1,000.

How to Prepare for the Hurstpierpoint College Pretest

For 13 Plus entry, Hurstpierpoint College uses the ISEB Common Entrance Pretest. One of the best ways to prepare for these assessments is to take practice tests and courses. They will help your child better understand the types of questions they will face in the real exam and give them a chance to get acquainted with the exam style, layout and time pressure.

Our resources are ideal for pupils who are currently preparing for the Hurstpierpoint College pretest. Consisting of four timed sections, the online tests cover the required subjects of English, Mathematics, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Once a test is finished, both parents and students have the opportunity to review answers and read detailed explanations for each question. This feedback is essential to focus your child’s efforts in the lead-up to the exam.

Build your child’s confidence and give them the best possible chance of gaining a place at Hurstpierpoint with our practice tests and courses.
