Lambrook School: Admissions Process for 11 Plus (11+)/Year 7 Entry
If you are thinking about applying for a Year 7 place at Lambrook for your child, please read through the following steps that take you through the Year 7 admissions process:
1. Year 7 is not a main entry point, so it is always worth checking Lambrook’s availability. You then need to register your child by completing the online form and paying the £200 registration fee. It is recommended that you do this as soon as possible, bearing in mind the entrance test will be around a year before entry.
2. Once you have registered, the school suggests you arrange a visit. Visiting will allow you to see the school in action and ask any questions you have. You can arrange a tour by contacting the registrar: [email protected].
3. Your child will be invited to Lambrook for an assessment day, which is typically in October of Year 6 for 11 plus entry. During the assessment day, staff at Lambrook will observe your child’s behaviour and find out about their interests. Additionally, your child will sit a bespoke online test so their academic ability can be evaluated. This test comprises the following areas:
-
- English
- Maths
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
4. If your child is offered a place, you will need to sign the online acceptance form. You will also need to pay an acceptance deposit of half a term’s fees. Half of this deposit comes off your child’s first term’s fees, and the other half is refunded when your child finishes Year 8.
5. Your child will be invited to Lambrook for a transition morning before they start at the school in Year 7.
Lambrook School: 11 Plus (11+)/Year 7 Bursaries
Are there bursaries available for Year 7 entrants? Lambrook offers two types of bursaries:
1. Full Bursaries: The Royal Springboard is a charity that works hard to give gifted children from low-income families the opportunity to attend state boarding and independent schools. They identify Year 7 candidates who would benefit from a place at Lambrook and usually offer them a 140% bursary to cover all the expenses of attending an independent school.
2. General Bursaries: These are offered to families who cannot afford Lambrook’s full fees but whose children would embrace everything the school has to offer. If you apply for a general bursary, an independent company will assess your financial situation.
Please be aware that only a limited number of bursaries will be available.
