Open Events play an important role in the process of selecting the right school. Sherborne organises Tour Mornings each term, welcoming families on campus for a day packed with activities, including a buffet lunch with the Headmaster.
If you decide that Sherborne Boys is the right choice for your child, you should register him for the examinations, which take place in January of Year 6 or Year 7. The admissions process also includes an interview with a senior staff member.
Offers of places are made in February, to be accepted with a payment of a £2,000 deposit. The registration fee is £200.

To join in Year 9, your child will be asked to complete an online Quest Assessment, which assesses skills in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Creative Comprehension and Puzzles & Problem Solving.

The Sherborne Boys online Quest assessment consists of the following sections:
- English – consists of multiple-choice questions designed to assess students’ reading comprehension, spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
- Maths – assesses students’ proficiency in various mathematical domains, including arithmetic and problem solving. Questions will include diagrams and/or charts.
- Verbal Reasoning – assesses students’ vocabulary and their ability to discern context-based meanings.
- Non-Verbal Reasoning – assesses students’ spatial and visual reasoning through multiple-choice questions.
- Creative Comprehension – consists of multiple-choice questions based on various sources, such as texts, maps, diagrams, timetables and charts.
- Puzzles & Problem Solving – includes interactive puzzles and diagrams, with each accompanied by a multiple choice/type in question for students to answer.
