Introduction
St George’s Ascot is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18. It is located on a beautiful 30-acre site but also benefits from being less than a five-minute walk away from Ascot High Street. The school is home to a wide range of top-class facilities, including a recording studio, an indoor swimming pool, a dance studio, a 300-seat theatre and a sports pavilion.
Small class sizes, high expectations and superb teaching mean that girls at St George’s Ascot can reach their full academic potential. The brightest pupils will be challenged and any who are struggling academically will be given plenty of support. All girls take GCSEs in maths, science, English language, English literature, a humanities subject and a modern foreign language. Girls can then typically choose an additional two subjects.
Pupils are encouraged to take up as many co-curricular activities as they can so that they can grow in confidence and develop their talents, as well as step out of their comfort zones to try new things. Examples of available activities include netball, drama, orchestra, mock bar trials and textiles. Additionally, the school arranges both day and residential trips, helping girls grow into capable, well-rounded young women.
Pastoral care at St George’s Ascot is exemplary. In 2019, the school was awarded the Mental Health Kitemark for Boarding Schools, which pays testament to how committed staff are to ensuring all pupils feel happy, safe and secure. Two school counsellors, the school chaplain and trained volunteer counsellors from the Sixth Form are ready to provide a listening ear to any girl who is struggling with any personal issues.

St George’s School, Ascot: CEM Select Online Assessment
The online assessment that applicants will take for standard Year 9 (13+) entry is the CEM Select. It is a test that assesses your daughter’s Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical reasoning.
- The Verbal reasoning questions test your child’s vocabulary, including their ability to make sense of what they are reading and make inferences.
- The Non-Verbal reasoning questions test your child’s ability to recognise shapes and match patterns. Spatial awareness is important in these questions.
- The Numerical reasoning questions will test your child’s knowledge of mathematical concepts, their ability to manipulate numbers and their problem-solving skills.
The CEM Select online assessment has the following methods to answer questions, which your daughter may not have come across before:
- Drag and drop: this involves using the mouse or trackpad to drag and then drop an answer into the correct place on the computer screen.
- Auto-complete: this involves starting to type your answer into the space on the screen. If you start typing the correct answer, the computer will finish it for you, meaning you can move on to the next question.
- Multiple-choice: this involves using the mouse or trackpad to select the correct answer from a group of answer choices.
