The 11+ entrance exam at St James Senior Girls’ School will be sat in December. The school uses a two-part, bespoke online test and an interview to assess pupils for Year 7 entry. A reference from their current school will also be requested.
St James Senior Girls’ School belongs to the London Consortium of schools (formerly North London Consortium) together with 13 other independent, all-girls schools. They all share the same admissions process, aiming to make quality education accessible to pupils from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
St James Senior Girls’ School – London Consortium 11+ Assessment: Bespoke Online Test
To join in Year 7, your child will be asked to complete a two-part online assessment, lasting a total of 100 minutes excluding breaks, which assesses skills in the following areas:
– Maths (20 minutes)
– Non-Verbal Reasoning (10 minutes)
– English & Verbal Reasoning (30 minutes)
The maths section assesses mathematical ability across the curriculum, including arithmetic and problem solving. Some questions will include diagrams/charts.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning part assesses thinking with shapes, space, diagrams and pictures. Both 2D Non-Verbal Reasoning and Spatial Reasoning questions (in multiple-choice format) are featured in this module.
English & Verbal Reasoning
The English section assesses your daughter’s Reading Comprehension, grammar and punctuation skills. All the questions are in multiple-choice format.
This is followed by a Verbal Reasoning section that will assess your daughter’s vocabulary and understanding of meaning in context.
– Puzzles & Problem Solving (15 minutes)
– Analysis (Creative Comprehension) (25 minutes)
Puzzles & Problem Solving
The Puzzles & Problem Solving section will include a series of interactive puzzles/diagrams. Each one will be accompanied by a question that your daughter will need to answer by typing into a box.
The Analysis section requires your daughter to answer multiple-choice questions drawing on a series of different sources, such as text, maps, diagrams, timetables and charts.
