Introduction

St Swithun’s School is an independent day and boarding school for girls in Winchester, Hampshire. It educates pupils aged 3-18 in line with the motto Caritas, Humilitas, Sinceritas (Kindness, Humility, Sincerity), and is widely recognised for its strong academic achievements. [1]

To try to ensure students access their first-choice universities after completing secondary education, St Swithun’s provides a broad and relevant curriculum. The academic programme Stretch helps further develop pupils’ learning abilities, encouraging them to expand their understanding in the areas of astronomy, experimental art and political issues, among others.

There are also plenty of co-curricular activities to choose from. Scuba diving, karate, golf, cooking, fencing, swimming, baking, drama, debating and Spanish Club are just some of the programme’s features, allowing girls to try out new experiences and boost their social proficiency. To facilitate an even greater appreciation of the educational journey, the school organises regular expeditions to thrilling destinations. Past trips include Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Borneo. [2]

Confirming St Swithun’s stellar academic reputation, a total of 80% of recent GCSE results at the school were grade 7 and above. The ethos and values of this establishment instil in girls a passion for learning and personal development, ensuring their exceptional performance across all crucial intellectual endeavours. [3]

Typically, St Swithun’s students mature into strong, independent young women, who exhibit high levels of intellectual curiosity while accomplishing their ambitious goals. Within the school’s vibrant community, they are urged to persevere through challenges, supported both emotionally and spiritually by understanding and caring staff.
