Introduction

Operational since 1624, The Latymer School is a selective co-ed grammar based in Edmonton, London. It is regularly featured at the top of best-state-schools lists and has educated a vast number of prominent alumni, including writers, journalists, activists and an artificial intelligence pioneer. [1]

In Sixth form, the curricular offering is broad and challenging, reflecting Latymer’s aims to provide a stimulating education that effectively prepares students for university and beyond. The cohort gets to choose from science, economics, media studies, politics and MFL, among others, making the most out of the valuable opportunities in order to maximise the scope of their qualifications.

The school regularly organises adventurous trips and expeditions to exciting destinations, as well as language exchanges with learning institutions in France and Germany. Iceland and Normandy have hosted Latymerians in the past, allowing them to explore significant cultural differences as part of their perpetual social growth. [2]

Latymer’s Sixth Form was rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED, whose report qualified students’ learning as dedicated and productive, grounded in strong commitment and discipline. The community was characterised as welcoming and safe, facilitating positive behaviours and maturity in line with the motto Qui Patitur Vincit (He who endures wins). [3]
