Introduction

The Norton Knatchbull School (NKS) is a grammar school for boys located in Kent. One of the two grammar schools in Ashford, NKS has academy status and has educated prominent figures in the world of politics, art, science and medicine. [1]

Aiming to prepare students for the competitive nature of work and life in general, the school educates through an extensive curriculum comprising English, mathematics, science, geography, history, MFL, art, computing, drama, music, DT, PE and religious studies.

Performance art plays a vital role in the overall learning experience, as do numerous co-curricular clubs and societies for film, sport, dance and manga lovers and devoted christians, among others.

The pastoral care is centred on providing students with a happy and caring environment, grounded in the efforts of both staff members and families to meet and address any concerns or challenges boys may be facing.

Celebrating individual achievements while fostering a community pervaded by mutual respect, NKS produces strong examination results and plenty of opportunities for boys to receive high-quality careers education, insider advice and expert guidance. As a result, leavers proceed onto the next stage of their education with a profound understanding of their abilities and clear goals which they pursue with confidence.

The Norton Knatchbull School standard entry point is 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in In-Year (Late) Entry. To assess pupils for casual admissions, The Norton Knatchbull School administers the CAT4 online test.

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) covers four subject areas, each of them evaluating pupils’ Reasoning skills through standardised assessments.
