Introduction
Trinity School is currently an independent school for boys aged 10 to 18, with a co-educational Sixth Form; however, in 2027, girls will be admitted into Years 6 and 7 as its journey to become fully co-educational begins. Trinity is proud to be a part of the John Whitgift Foundation, a charity that supports a diverse range of people in the Croydon area.
Academic standards at Trinity are exceptionally high. In 2025, 86.4% of GCSE grades were in the 9-7 range, and 95% of A-Level grades were in the A*-B range. The school’s latest ISI report highlights that teachers are knowledgeable and deliver engaging lessons and that pupils are well-behaved and keen to learn.
Trinity has an extensive co-curricular programme that includes a diverse range of activities in sport, music, drama and art & design. In fact, there are more than 250 activities available, meaning there really is something for everyone. Participation helps pupils develop into independent, confident young adults.
Pastoral care at Trinity is excellent. Pupils know they can talk to staff when they have any concerns or worries and that they will be listened to. Furthermore, the inclusive, respectful environment at Trinity makes pupils feel safe and secure, enabling them to thrive.

Admissions Process for 11 Plus Entry to Trinity School
Choosing the right school for your child is important. For this reason, it is a good idea to visit any school you are interested in to learn more about it and see if it is a good fit for your child. Trinity hosts various open events throughout the year, giving you the chance to experience all it has to offer.
If you decide that Trinity aligns with what you are looking for, you must complete the school’s application form. You can do this from when applications open in June of Year 5 to when they close in October of Year 6. You will have to pay a £200 non-refundable registration fee, unless your child receives Pupil Premium or you are on Universal Credit.
You will also be required to submit a copy of your child’s most recent school report, and Trinity will ask your child’s current head for a reference. The report and reference will be reviewed as part of the admissions process.
In December of Year 6, your child will attend an assessment day at Trinity, when they will sit an online assessment produced by Quest and complete a guided written paper.
If your child’s report and reference are glowing and they perform well in the entrance tests, they will be invited to attend an academic interview in January.
Offers will be sent out in February. Acceptance involves completing the acceptance form and paying the £2,000 deposit by the given deadline. £1,000 will be returned to you when your child has completed their education at Trinity. The other £1,000 will go into the school’s bursary fund. If you are offered a bursary, your deposit might be less than £2,000.
Trinity School: Scholarships and Bursaries for Year 7 Entry
Scholarships
There are six different types of scholarship available for Year 7 entry: academic, art, drama, DT, music and sport.
Academic scholarships are awarded to candidates who excel in the entrance exams and interview. The other scholarships must be applied for. You can only apply for two scholarships, and your child must meet the required standard in the entrance exams and meet the criteria for the relevant scholarship to be invited to attend a scholarship assessment.

Bursaries
Trinity is committed to welcoming pupils from diverse economic backgrounds, which is why it offers Trinity bursaries in addition to John Whitgift Foundation bursaries. These means-tested awards allow pupils to take up places at Trinity who would be unable to do so without financial assistance.
If your child performs exceptionally well in their entrance exams and interview, and you have an annual household income below £85,000, you may be eligible for a bursary.

Trinity School: Online Quest Assessment for Year 7 Entry
As part of the admissions procedure, your child will sit an online Quest assessment that comprises four sections.
The maths section will cover topics that are in the national curriculum but will not go beyond Year 5 work. The topics are:
- Number, which includes place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Measurement, which includes calculating the areas of rectangles, calculating perimeters and solving problems that use money.
- Geometry, which includes identifying 3-D shapes from 2-D representations and knowing how to measure angles.
- Statistics, which includes extracting information from a line graph and being able to read timetables.
The English section will require your child to read a passage and then answer questions designed to, amongst other things, assess their ability to retrieve information, make inferences, identify the writer’s purpose and tone, spot literary techniques and understand vocabulary in context.
There may also be questions testing your child’s spelling, punctuation and grammar.
The non-verbal reasoning section will assess your child’s ability to analyse and interpret visual information to answer questions. For example, they may be presented with a picture of a folded piece of paper with shapes cut out of it. They will then have to work out what the paper will look like when it is unfolded.
The verbal reasoning section will use written information to test your child’s ability to think logically and the breadth of their vocabulary. For example, they may be given two groups of words and have to pick one word from each to make a pair of synonyms.
The maths, non-verbal reasoning and verbal reasoning sections are adaptive, so your child will answer questions at the right level for them. If your child is getting answers correct, the questions will get harder. If they get a question wrong, the next question will be a little easier.
It can be hard to know how to prepare for Trinity’s competitive online assessment, which is why we have compiled some tips for you in the section below.
How to Help Your Child Prepare for the Trinity School Year 7 Online Quest Assessment
We hope you find the following suggestions helpful, enabling your child to have an effective and positive preparation period.
-
- Create an appropriate study schedule that begins well in advance of the entrance exam and comprises short but regular sessions (most 10-11-year-olds can focus for around 20-30 minutes at a time). Incorporate plenty of breaks and time to have fun so that your child does not feel overwhelmed.
- Be positive, praising your child for their efforts and reassuring them that all they can do is their best. If they don’t secure a place at Trinity, it is not the end of the world. The progress they make during the preparation period will benefit them at any school they attend.
- Encourage your child to read regularly, as this will enhance their reading comprehension and widen their vocabulary, which will help them in all sections of the online assessment, as well as in all their subjects at school.
- Practise maths skills by asking your child questions. For example, when you are shopping, you could ask them to calculate the total cost if you are buying a few items. On car journeys, you could test their times tables.
- Make learning fun by using games and puzzles to develop your child’s skills. For example, tangrams will enhance their problem-solving skills and spatial awareness, and Scrabble will improve their spelling and boost their vocabulary.
- Break revision down into manageable chunks by writing out key facts on flashcards and revisiting them regularly to aid memorisation.
- Remove fear of the unknown by using our online practice tests that closely resemble Trinity’s online Quest assessment. Working through our practice tests will get your child used to the question types that will come up, enabling them to work quickly and accurately on the day. They will also be used to the format and timings, which means they can navigate the assessment efficiently.
