To proceed with a Year 9 application to the school, parents are required to download and complete the senior registration form and return it alongside a non-refundable deposit of £150. Applications for 13+ admission should be received by the end of the Autumn Term in Year 6.
Wetherby Senior School 13 Plus Pretest Assessment
As an academically selective school, Wetherby’s requires all Year 9 candidates to sit the ISEB Common Pretest exam, which usually takes place in the autumn term of Year 6, in addition to an admissions interview. The Common Pretest is designed to provide schools with an overview of a pupil’s academic potential over several core subjects: English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal reasoning. This is a one-off, age-standardised test, to make sure that no candidate has an advantage over any other based on their age.
Wetherby Senior School Admissions Criteria
In order to apply for a school place in Year 9, students must pass the ISEB Pretest exam. The school will also assess pupils through an interview will require references from a candidate’s previous school.
Boys who pass the ISEB Pretest are invited to the school for an interview with senior staff. This interview aims to assess how a student will fit in at the school. Following the interview, places will be allocated and parents notified with a deadline date for acceptance. Parents should be aware that boys coming from Wetherby Prep School are given priority for places at Wetherby Senior School in Year 9.
