Wilmington Grammar School for Boys (WGSB) is a grammar school with academy status in Wilmington, Kent. Formerly known as Dartford Technical High School, WGSB is a specialist engineering facility with strong emphasis on DT, mathematics and physics. 
Students benefit from top-quality teaching for English, mathematics, science, history, geography, RE, art, music, DT, computer science, business studies, PE and MFL. Further training is delivered through the ‘Life’ programme, which comprises PSHE, RSE and Careers Education.

Wilmington Grammar School for Boys standard entry point is 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in In-Year (Late) Entry. To assess pupils for In-Year entry, Wilmington Grammar administers the CAT4 online test and papers for Maths and English.
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) covers four subject areas, each of them evaluating pupils’ Reasoning skills through standardised assessments.
Wilmington Grammar School for Boys In-Year Entry (12 Plus & 13 Plus) Admissions Information
These tests will be taken at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys. If you wish your child to be considered for the assessments, you should apply using the In Year Common Application Form.
A total of three testing dates are allocated per academic year. In order to be considered eligible for a place, your son must gain a standardised score of 115 and above (in the CAT4). If a place is not available or your son has not reached the required standard, the school will not offer a place. Please note that you have the right to appeal the school’s decision.
If the school has reached its Published Admission Number (PAN) in the year group, your son may be placed on a waiting list. Under these circumstances, priority will be given to:
- Children in the Local Authority Care;
- Children whose siblings attend the school;
- Children whose siblings attend Wilmington Grammar for Girls;
- Children who live nearest to the school.

As part of the assessment process for late transfer entry, your child will be asked to complete the CAT4 assessment.

- The Spatial Reasoning section assesses your child’s ability to identify shapes and how they change.
