Introduction
Warminster School is a co-ed independent day and boarding school in Warminster, Wiltshire. Founded in 1707, it features beautiful buildings as part of its campus and an impressive list of notable alumni, including educators, activists and politicians. [1]
Both extensive and comprehensive, the Senior School curriculum provides pupils with a variety of learning experiences that maximise cognitive potential. As such, it boasts a wide range of subject options, including computer science, DT, MFL, photography, REP (religion, ethics & philosophy), history and economics.
Life on campus is busy and vibrant, encouraging students to make the most out of the abundant co-curricular programme. Applications for entry include a completion of an online form and paying the £125 non-refundable fee prior to the deadline in October of the year preceding entry. Following this, your child will be invited to the school to sit online assessments, typically held in January.
The admissions process also includes an interview with the Head and the review of reports and references from your child’s current school. If they are successful, they may receive an offer, to be accepted with a payment of a deposit.
The school offers a range of scholarships to exceptional candidates, including in the areas of Academic ability, Music, Art and Drama. Bursaries are also available, covering up to 40% of annual fees. Please note that bursaries are means-tested awards, which are reviewed annually.

To join in Years 7–10, your child will be asked to complete an online assessment called UKiset. This online assessment forms an integral part of the selection process for students who wish to gain entry to leading UK independent schools.

The UKiset test is made up of three components:
- Reasoning
- Linguaskill
- English Essay
The Reasoning section evaluates your child’s learning potential across Quantitative, Non-Verbal and Verbal Reasoning.
Linguaskill is a multiple-choice test that measures your child’s English level in reading and listening. It helps schools to assess how easily they will be able to access the UK curriculum.
The English Essay is a piece of expressive writing on a topic assigned on the day of the test. It aims to demonstrate your child’s ability to express their opinion and communicate in written English.
