Introduction
Hoe Bridge School is an independent co-educational day school which was established in 1986 following the merger of two boys’ schools. Based in Woking, Surrey, it occupies a beautiful 17th century house and has recently been rated as ‘Excellent’ by ISI. [1]
To secure pupils’ academic progress, Hoe Bridge offers a relevant curriculum, comprising the core subjects of English, mathematics and science alongside further disciplines, including ICT and humanities. Lessons are tailored to suit individual ability and needs, complementing an effective provision that successfully combines in-class and experiential learning.
The co-curricular offering features something for everyone, boasting fun yet useful activities such as Forest School, fencing, STEAM, debating and Musical Theatre. Children use every opportunity to bond and forge fond memories, adding up to the warm and friendly learning atmosphere that pervades the lively campus. [2]

11 Plus (11+) Admissions | Hoe Bridge School
Hoe Bridge welcomes families on the site all throughout the year. During the open events, guided tours of facilities and one-on-ones with members of staff take place, helping prospective families learn details about the school’s provision.
After the visit, you may wish to register your child with the school, which includes a payment of a £75 registration fee. Assessments for entry take place in November (of Year 6), while interviews take place the following January.
Offers of places are posted later the same month, to be accepted with a payment of £1000.

To join in Year 7, your child will be asked to complete an online assessment called the ISEB Common Pretest, which assesses skills in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The test provides a universal and standardised measure of attainment, ability and potential.

The ISEB Pretest assessment will cover the following areas:
- English – covers comprehension, sentence completion, spelling and punctuation.
- Maths – measures mathematical ability relative to the national curriculum stage.
- Verbal Reasoning – tests thinking and problem solving with words.
- Non-Verbal Reasoning – assesses thinking with shapes, space, diagrams and pictures.
In total, the four parts of the ISEB Common Pre-test take approximately 2.5 hours to administer and complete. There is no audio component to any of the tests.
