Whitgift School holds School Open Morning in September, providing families with a fantastic opportunity to get a feel for life on campus via pupil-led tours and meetings with staff.
Open Evenings take place in October and are in similar format. You and your child will hear a talk from the Headmaster and take a tour of the site, lasting 40 to 90 minutes.

Whitgift School | The Pre-Assessment: ISEB Common Pre-test
To join in Year 9, your child will be asked to take an online assessment called the ISEB Common Pretest, which assesses skills in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Here’s a brief introduction to the subjects covered in this online exam:
English
The English part of the ISEB Pretest assesses comprehension, sentence completion, spelling and punctuation.
Mathematics
The maths part of the ISEB Pretest assesses mathematical ability across the curriculum, including arithmetic and problem solving.
Verbal Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning part of the ISEB Pretest assesses thinking and problem solving with words.
Non-Verbal Reasoning
The Non-Verbal Reasoning part assesses thinking with shapes, space, diagrams and pictures.
The exam lasts approximately 2.5 hours. The timings for each section are listed below:
– English – 25 minutes
– Maths – 50 minutes
– Verbal reasoning – 36 minutes
– Non-Verbal reasoning – 32 minutes
