Introduction
Nurturing a Catholic ethos, Our Lady’s Abingdon (OLA) is an independent co-ed day school which was founded in 1860. Its beautiful campus is based in Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, and its motto is Age Quod Agis (Whatever you do, do it well). [1]
Boasting a wide range of academic experiences, OLA’s curriculum is balanced and relevant. The creative, linguistic, physical and religious aspects of pupils’ development are also catered for, ensuring that the school day is characterised by both vigour and diversity.
Extracurriculars further support the broad offering, allowing children to identify their strengths early on. Eco Club, Ancient Greek, orchestra and choir are some of the most popular pursuits, alongside swimming and waterpolo, which take place at OLA’s very own swimming pool. [2]

To visit OLA and observe the school in action, you should sign up for one of their Open Mornings. During this event, you will have the chance to tour facilities, meet staff and students, and see firsthand what OLA has to offer. All are welcome to attend, but pre-registration is required.
The entry assessments are held in November of the year preceding entry. As part of the admissions process, your child will also attend an interview and their current school report and reference will be reviewed.
Registration forms can be accessed on this page. The registration fee is £100, while the acceptance deposit amounts to £500.
Scholarships and bursaries are available. Talented and able 11+ candidates can apply for a scholarship award in the following areas:

As part of the assessment process for Year 7 entry, your child will be asked to complete the CEM Select assessment.
The test contains a number of unusual question formats that your child is unlikely to have encountered before. These include drag and drop digits and sentence auto-completes.
The assessment will be divided into a series of highly time-pressured sections. Your child doesn’t necessarily need to complete all the questions in each section to do well.

The CEM Select assessment will cover the following areas:
- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Numerical Reasoning
The Verbal Reasoning section of the test assesses your child’s ability to solve problems using words, with a special focus on depth and breadth of vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning section requires your child to solve problems using shapes and patterns with a main focus on one specific question type.
The Numerical Reasoning section assesses your child’s ability to solve problems using numbers and arithmetic.
