Introduction

Thomas’s Battersea 11+ Admissions for Year 7 Entry

 

At Thomas’s Battersea, tours are organised each term to assist families in getting acquainted with all the facilities and resources on offer. As part of these visits, you and your child will have the opportunity to meet with senior staff members, hear from the Head and chat with personnel from the Admissions department. Furthermore, you can take part in an extensive, guided tour of facilities. 

 

To proceed with the admissions process, you should register your child with the school by the designated deadline, typically set in November of the year preceding entry. The entrance examinations are formal in nature, and they take place in January. There will also be an interview with a senior staff member.

 

Offers are posted in February. Please note that you must accept the offer by the March deadline and pay a deposit to secure your child’s place at the school.

As part of the assessment process for 11+ entry, your child will be asked to complete an online test called CEM Select.

 

The test contains a number of unusual question formats that your child is unlikely to have encountered before. These include drag and drop digits and sentence auto-completes.

 

The assessment will be divided into a series of highly time-pressured sections. Your child doesn’t necessarily need to complete all the questions in each section to do well.

 

Thomas’s Battersea 11+ Online Exam Format 

 

The CEM Select will cover the following areas:

 

  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Numerical Reasoning

 

The Verbal Reasoning section of the test assesses your child’s ability to solve problems using words, with a special focus on depth and breadth of vocabulary.

 

The Non-Verbal Reasoning section requires your child to solve problems using shapes and patterns with a main focus on one specific question type.

 

The Numerical Reasoning section assesses your child’s ability to solve problems using numbers and arithmetic.
